Back from Tennessee

We got back Monday night.  Hopefully, we can stay put for a few days!  I had a great time in TN. Below are pictures of Miss Kitty -- one with my greatnephew (doesn't she look thrilled -- he's "just petting her cause hers so cute") and one with her favorite toys -- ponytail holders!! She arranged them like that while Daddy and I were gone.

Daniel Fears was deemed a danger to society and held in the hospital, but he gets another hearing in 30 days.

 Roger made me change my profile pic because I wasn't smiling.  I added the sepia tones because my face was soooo red (I was laughing) in the picture.

In Tennessee now...

Made it to TN on Wednesday -- Roger's in NC doing a coin show for his company.  Today was the hearing for Fears.  I'll try to update, or get Roger to update his, as soon as we find out a result.  I have no computer at Daddy's so I have sneak time in here and there at friends' houses, my niece's house, etc.  I'll post some Miss Kitty in TN pictures soon.

I lost....

2 pounds!  Even though I made some BAD choices -- patty melt, fried eggs, french fries!!!  As you can tell, I stopped by and weighed today!

Back from Oklahoma -- Off to Tennessee and beyond

We got back from OK Sunday night, now it's off to Tennessee for me and to North Carolina (for a coin show) for Roger.  I'm hitching along, since he has to come within 30 miles of my Dad's house to get to Charlotte.  I'll get to visit while he works.

We went back to the casino Saturday night in OK, and between the 2 visits, came out ahead over $1000 -- this has never, ever happened to us the few times we have been to casinos! 

Miss Kitty is back from boarding, and doesn't want to leave our sight.  She's coming with to TN, so it won't be so bad.  She's not a great traveller, not bad, but doesn't enjoy it.  She has to be confined to her carrier, or she will wander places like under the driver's feet!!

Cherokee Casino

Today, in the midst of errands and name tags, we took about an hour or so to visit the Cherokee Casino here in Sallisaw.  We split one hundred dollars -- we played slots -- Roger won a little over $400 and I won a little over $200

Here in Sallisaw, OK

We are in Sallisaw for the United Victims rally.  We got in about 8:30 last night.  Slept a little late -- one of the reasons we got here last night, so we could have some time to recoup.  We, especially Roger, have been going full blast for the past couple of weeks.  I'm excited and nervous about the rally.  Of course, one benefit is that it is like a mini family reunion.  Most of the out of towners will arrive tomorrow.  One of Roger's brothers is at the door now -- David the youngest--see ya!!

Shirts for Roger.....

Roger needed 2 French Blue button-down collar pinpoint oxford dress shirts -- in his size, which I shan't reveal -- nothing too specific, ya know.  It took me almost 2 hours of searching to find them -- but I finally did and on sale!!!!!!!!

Weight Watchers result

  I actually gained 0.2 pounds!!!  They said it was probably water weight, as my supper last night contains quite a bit of sodium....just gotta keep slugging along!

My brain is tired!

Today has been busy!  First, there were tornados in the area.  That had Roger calling and making sure I knew where to go -- bless his heart.  Then there were United Victims calls and emails -- all for a good cause.   Then, I have done 2 tax returns for friends -- not complicated, Thank God!  After that, I tried developing a new recipe -- blech!  I think I know what I did wrong though.  But my WW is going good, and I go weigh tomorrow.  Fingers crossed!

Good Afternoon!

Went to the movies yesterday--We saw The Number 23.  Roger wasn't real thrilled with it, but I liked it.  It is kinda hard to follow, so don't go the the restroom.   I didn't get popcorn, but I did get Raisinettes -- but I only ate 10! All in all, a very good day!

Expiration date....

I was getting dressed (yup at 1 in the afternoon) and looked down at my deodorant and saw the expiration date --- Dec 8 2201.  That's some dang powerful stuff in there if it will keep almost 200 years!!!

My great-nephew...and my nephew

My great-nephew, Nathan (3 years old), below was in a drowning accident in July of last year.  He was not breathing when he was pulled from the pool.  After 2 weeks in the hospital and 6 weeks of intensive therapy -- speech, physical and occupational -- he was left with no permanent damage -- Thank God!  Today, his mother (my niece) called my father all worried--told him Nathan had replasped--wouldn't wake up except to sip Sprite, fever, etc.  Ran him to Children's Hospital (about 40 miles) --- he has a virus! 

This picture was taken about a month afterwards.

Now onto my nephew.   He is 23 and has already had both testicles and some lymph nodes removed due to cancer.  They told him, not too long ago, that he was cancer free.  He found out yesterday that the cancer had spread to his kidneys and chest (but not lungs) -- it is in stage IV -- the final stage for his type of cancer.    He has 2 kids and one on the way.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

1 gigabyte.....

I was listening to my little iPod Shuffle and realized that this little thing hardly bigger than a postage stamp has as much storage as my first computer!  I remember my boss at the time (1995) saying that nobody could use all that space!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all

Thanks to all who have welcomed me so warmly to this internet community.  I've never blogged before, so it is hard to think of things that other people might be interested to read.  Work on United Victims' March 10th rally is moving along -- slowly.  We may be able to get a bloodmobile there -- I'm waiting to hear back.  I'm starting Weight Watchers this week -- Roger's been on an Atkins type diet and has lost a good deal, but I can't live without carbs.  So I have decided to try the point system that WW offers.  I also believe the meetings will help me be accountable.  Anybody doing/done the point thing???

Computer monopolizing

A great book.....

I recently read The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini -- it is an extremely touching novel of a doomed friendship of two boys in Afghanistan....it gives details to the history of Afghanistan in the past 30 years -- from the last days of the monarchy, to the Soviet invasion and the atrocities of the Taliban.  I bought with some skeptic thoughts, but it is a really engrossing book.
